Barcelona has signed forward Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund on Thursday for a fee of 29 million euros, which is about $33 million. This amount includes possible extra payments.
Barcelona confirmed that Adeyemi will be with the club for the next five seasons, until June 30, 2031. This was announced in a statement from the club.
The 24-year-old is a versatile player and is the second signing for Barcelona this summer. They previously bought England international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle.
Adeyemi is known for his speed. He can play as a forward or on the wings. His signing is timely as Barcelona lost veteran striker Robert Lewandowski. They also missed Marcus Rashford, whose loan from Manchester United has ended, which has left them needing more attacking options.
Barcelona is also looking to sign Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez. He is their main target this summer.
Hansi Flick, the coach of Barcelona, gave Adeyemi his debut with the German national team back in 2021.
Adeyemi joined Dortmund in 2022 from Red Bull Salzburg. During his time at Dortmund, he scored 36 goals in 146 matches across all competitions over four seasons before moving to Barcelona.
