Arteta says there’s no worry about his contract at Arsenal

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has said there is “nothing to be concerned about” regarding his contract situation at the Premier League club.

Arteta, whose current deal runs until the end of the 2026/27 season, shared this news before Arsenal’s match against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

When asked if he plans to sign a new contract, Arteta replied, “I think we are all very much aligned; whenever the time is right, we’ll get that done. There is nothing to be concerned about.”

He was also questioned about signing his previous contract two years ago during an international break. He was asked if a new deal might follow the same timing.

“I don’t know if the timing will be the same or different. I think we both have the same ambition and the same will, so whenever we have time we’ll get that resolved,” he said in a pre-match conference on the club website on Friday.

Arteta has been the manager since December 2019. He has led Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League, winning the FA Cup in 2020. He also guided the Gunners to three straight second-place finishes in the league from 2022/23 to 2024/25.

The manager talked about how Arsenal develops and recruits young players. He said the club wants to keep its level by mixing its academy pathway with new signings.

“It’s us as a club, we know we want to constantly maintain this level and have the pathway already in-house, which is obviously the best way to bring players from the academy or youth teams to us,” Arteta mentioned.

“We need to be one of the best in the world at recruiting in the country and abroad to maintain that level.”

Arteta’s comments came as Arsenal get ready to play Brighton in their last match before the long international break.
