Nigerian goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has kept two clean sheets in a row for Charlton Athletic. He achieved this in the club’s goalless draw against Portsmouth in the English Championship, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Okonkwo’s latest shutout came after he previously kept another clean sheet against QPR, where Charlton also ended the game 0-0.
With the draw against Portsmouth, the 25-year-old has now managed three clean sheets in six Championship matches this season. This makes him the second best in the league for clean sheets.
Okonkwo, who is on loan from Wrexham, has become Charlton’s first-choice goalkeeper. He has played every minute in the five Championship games he has appeared in, totaling 450 minutes.
His impressive form is encouraging, especially after a tough 4-0 loss to Stoke City on September 5. Just four days later, he bounced back with a clean sheet against QPR, helping Charlton earn a point.
Earlier this year, Okonkwo switched his international allegiance from England to Nigeria. He made his Super Eagles debut during the 2026 Unity Cup in London. In that tournament, he kept clean sheets in Nigeria’s wins over Zimbabwe and Jamaica, helping the team keep their title.
He has also received an invitation to join the Super Eagles for Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau later this month.
