Aston Villa has signed Senegal winger Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain for a reported £47 million, which is about $63 million. The deal was announced on Tuesday.
Last season, Mbaye played 31 matches for PSG. During that time, the French team won both the Champions League and the Ligue 1 title.
The 18-year-old also played four times for Senegal in the recent World Cup. He scored against France, making him the youngest African player to score in the men’s tournament.
Since his debut for PSG at just 16 years old, Mbaye has been capped 15 times by Senegal.
"Aston Villa is delighted to announce the signing of Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain," the club said in a statement.
"The Senegal international is a bright young talent who scored for his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He joins on a permanent transfer."
Mbaye, who was born in France, is the latest signing for Villa. The Premier League club has seen many changes this close season.
After winning the Europa League last season and ending a 30-year wait for a trophy, Villa has sold several players. Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, Ollie Watkins, Lucas Digne, Emiliano Martinez, and Ezri Konsa have all left the club.
Villa manager Unai Emery has made several new signings. He brought in Alejandro Garnacho, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Johan Manzambi, Zion Suzuki, Joao Gomes, Leon Goretzka, Matteo Ruggeri, and Nicolas Jackson.
