Barcelona has chosen not to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen this summer. They have been looking into his situation at Galatasaray, but his high salary demands are the main issue, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Catalan club has been watching the 27-year-old for weeks. There is uncertainty about his future in Turkey, where he has become one of Europe’s top strikers.

According to Diario SPORT, Barcelona has decided against pursuing Osimhen. They need a solid No. 9 to replace Polish striker Robert Lewandowski. Lewandowski left the club at the end of the 2025/26 season to join Chicago Fire in MLS after a successful time with Barcelona.

The biggest problem is his salary. Osimhen reportedly makes about €15m net per season, plus bonuses and his image rights. He has not shown any willingness to lower his demands.

This financial commitment is too much for Barcelona. They are still facing serious financial issues and do not want to change their wage structure for the former Napoli striker.

Osimhen’s transfer fee is also a big concern. Galatasaray values him at around €75m. Even though he has a great goalscoring record, Barcelona feels the total cost does not make sense.

There are worries about Osimhen’s temperament too. His personality is seen as a possible risk to team harmony. While his skills are clear, Barcelona believes the potential problems outweigh the advantages.

Osimhen’s record explains why clubs are interested in him. He scored 76 goals in 133 games for Napoli before moving to Galatasaray. There, he kept up his good form with 59 goals in 74 matches.

Tottenham Hotspur is one of the top teams interested in him. The Premier League club reportedly made an opening offer of around €60m, which Galatasaray turned down.

Tottenham might come back with a better offer as they look for a reliable striker. But for Barcelona, they have already made their choice. They value Osimhen’s talent, but the financial package needed to sign him is why they are no longer interested.
