Barcelona has been given a chance to sign Victor Osimhen but they are not interested in the Nigerian striker. The club is focused on getting Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez as their top target this summer, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Diario Sport says that some intermediaries contacted Barcelona recently about a possible deal for the Galatasaray forward. However, the club does not see him in their plans as they search for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

This rejection does not lessen the interest around Osimhen, who is getting attention from nearly every major club in Europe as the summer transfer window approaches. Galatasaray's assistant coach Ismael Garcia Gomez spoke to Marca about why so many clubs want Osimhen.

"We have very top-level players, but in my opinion, Osimhen is among the world's top three to five strikers," Garcia said.

"He possesses an extremely high level and impressive physical strength. He presses, he defends. In addition, he has the ability to influence the opposing defence even when he is not heavily involved in the game."

The numbers back this up. Since joining Istanbul initially on loan in 2024 and making the move permanent last summer, Osimhen has scored 59 goals in 74 appearances across all competitions. He has helped Galatasaray win two league titles and a Turkish Cup.

Manchester United sees the 27-year-old as a dream signing and wants him as their main striker for next season. Real Madrid is also keeping an eye on the situation and could act if José Mourinho becomes their next head coach.

Atletico Madrid views him as a possible replacement if Alvarez leaves, which would reunite him with Super Eagles teammate Ademola Lookman. Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and Chelsea have all shown interest too, and Galatasaray might be tested by any club willing to meet their reported €150m valuation.
