Bayern Munich's goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is set to miss some games due to a foot injury. This adds to the list of players already unavailable for the German champions.
Neuer left the pitch just before half-time during Saturday's 2-1 victory against Mainz due to a problem with his right foot.
On Sunday, Bayern announced that Neuer would be "out for the time being" because of a torn tendon in his foot.
Bayern did not say how long Neuer would be sidelined, but reports in Germany say he will be out for at least two months.
"An injury never comes at the right time, but it’s part of the game," Neuer shared on social media.
"I’ve been through this before, and I’ll get through this one too. From now on: full focus on recovery. Until then, I will support the boys on the pitch wherever I can."
In his 550th Bundesliga match, Neuer became the oldest player in Bayern's history to play in a league match at 40 years and 225 days old.
Bayern also has coach Vincent Kompany absent as he recovers from an illness. Other players like Jamal Musiala, Luis Diaz, Ismael Saibari, and Serge Gnabry are also missing from the team.
Even with Neuer out, Bayern still has strong backup in the goalkeeper position. Jonas Urbig, who is their number two, is one of three goalies called up to Jurgen Klopp’s Germany squad this Thursday.
Neuer, who has won the Champions League twice, has already missed five matches this season due to injuries. He has suggested that this season might be his last.
