Controversial relationship therapist and social media personality, Blessing Okoro, known as Blessing CEO, has said sorry for her past comments. She said she has learned a painful lesson and is ready to make things right.
Okoro made the apology in a heartfelt video posted on her Instagram page on Tuesday. This came days after her release from custody and while she was grieving the recent death of her nine-year-old son, Bryan.
Bryan passed away in a hospital on June 8, 2026. His mother was in custody at Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Lagos, due to separate fraud allegations at that time. The boy had chronic asthma and had faced health problems since he was a child.
After her release on bail in late October, Blessing CEO talked publicly about her loss. She expressed regret for not being able to be with her son before he died.
In the latest video, she was seen crying in a car. She explained that she had left home because she did not want her mother to see her in that state. "I had to run away from the house. I’m inside the car because I don’t want my mum to see me like this. My family, what do you want me to do? Tell me because I’m confused. My brain is numb," she said.
The social media personality admitted that her words might have hurt some people. She said she spoke about things she did not know personally. "I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I know nothing about. I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I’ve never felt. I’m sorry for speaking about it carelessly," she said.
Reflecting on the backlash, Okoro said she realized that words are not enough. She pointed out that actions are more important than promises. "I’m realizing that talk is cheap. Talk is cheap. Action speaks louder than words. I’m so ashamed of myself, but I’m human. I’m bound to make mistakes, but mistakes also have a price, and I’m paying for it with my own tears," she added.
She described herself as broken and tired. She asked those hurt by her comments to forgive her. "I’m sorry if my words have affected you in any way. Now I can feel the pain, and I don’t even wish it for my worst enemy. Maybe I was just ignorant. Life has taught me a lesson," she said.
Okoro also said sorry to those who still support her and those who have turned away because of her actions. "To those who still love me despite everything, I’m sorry. To those who no longer love me because of my actions, I’m sorry," she said.
She compared her return to her family to that of a prodigal child. She said she was not ashamed of seeking comfort where she was once loved. "I’m back home like the prodigal son in the Bible. I’m not ashamed of coming back home where I was celebrated and had everything in abundance. Instead of eating crumbs on the table, this is me making a U-turn," she said.
She asked for a chance to make things right. She said she was ready to leave her past mistakes behind and start fresh. "I’m not ashamed to be lost. I just want to find my way back. Let’s start all over again. Now I have learned my lesson in a very hard way, and I’m sorry," she added.
In the emotional video, Okoro also spoke to her late son, Bryan, whom she affectionately called Doom Doom. She said she missed him and promised to fix her mistakes. "To my son who passed, whom I call Doom Doom, I miss you. I miss you, Bryan. I miss you so much, and I promise to correct every wrong. I’m ready to correct every wrong to keep making you proud in heaven," she said.
She revealed that his death continues to affect the family, especially his grandmother. She said they sometimes hide from each other to cry. "Your brother misses you so much. Granny has been crying. In fact, me and your granny used to hide to cry. I saw my mum break down this morning, and I couldn’t even look at her face," she said.
Okoro also mentioned other family members who miss Bryan, including his father and brother. She talked about wanting to collect her son’s school bag, uniform, lunchbox, and books. She hoped gathering his belongings would help her cope with the loss. "I’m sorry, Bryan. I’m sorry I wasn’t there. I’m sorry I came late. I don’t know, but I’m sorry," she said.
Towards the end of the video, the social media personality spoke about the heavy burden of her grief. She prayed for help as she struggled with the loss. "I’m praying that God finds me before it’s too late to shut down my heart and me to bury my own child. The pain is too much," she said.
