Canada pulls Ola-Ola pounded yam over hidden milk allergen

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled Ola-Ola Authentic Pounded Yam (Iyan) IYANINSTANT after discovering it contains undeclared milk. This is a serious concern for people who are allergic to milk.

CFIA explained that the product is being taken off the market because it has milk in it, but this is not mentioned on the label.

“The affected product is being recalled from the marketplace because it contains milk, which is not declared on the label,” the CFIA stated.

The recalled product comes in a 1.815kg package with UPC 6 50655 49687 3. This recall affects all product codes that do not list milk as an ingredient.

The agency warns that anyone allergic to or sensitive to milk should avoid this product. Consuming it could lead to serious or life-threatening allergic reactions.

Consumers are advised not to use, sell, serve or give away the recalled product. They should either throw it away safely or return it to the store where they bought it.
