The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) is worried that the recent rise in prices of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel is pushing up its operating costs.
CITN President Adesina Adedayo said the spike in fuel prices has made it more expensive to run the institute, which needs transportation for its work. He pointed out that these rising costs could affect the institute's ability to perform its duties effectively.
Adedayo shared this during a press briefing in Lagos. He also mentioned that the government must tackle the issues caused by increasing fuel prices. He stressed that CITN is dedicated to making sure tax practitioners are prepared for the changing tax environment in Nigeria.
He called on the government to create better conditions for businesses to succeed, which would help the economy grow. The CITN president also urged all stakeholders to come together to find solutions to the problems facing the taxation sector, especially due to the rising operational costs from fuel price increases.
