Media production company, Come On Naija, is dedicated to improving Nigerian storytelling. They plan to showcase Nigeria’s rich culture to audiences worldwide through quality films and smart partnerships.

The company’s CEO, Olawumi Fajemirokun, mentioned that they are ready to work with brands, institutions, and filmmakers. Their goal is to create unique content and entertainment that genuinely connects with viewers.

In a statement to Saturday Beats, Fajemirokun said, “Come On Naija operates at the intersection of entertainment, culture, media and the creative economy, transforming compelling Nigerian stories and cultural experiences into intellectual property with the potential to reach audiences across Africa and internationally.”

She added that the company is involved in filmmaking, story identification, intellectual property development, creative partnerships, and content production. This approach offers chances for brands, investors, distributors, and cultural institutions to join in the entertainment industry.

Fajemirokun explained that the company was formed to fill the gap in documenting and presenting Nigeria’s diverse cultural heritage and human experiences.

She said, “Nigeria possesses one of the world’s richest reservoirs of human stories, traditions, entrepreneurial experiences, historical events, personalities, communities and cultural expressions. Yet, many of these stories remain undocumented, underdeveloped or presented to audiences without the scale and production quality they deserve. We exist to close that gap.”

Fajemirokun highlighted that their storytelling is based on five key principles: authenticity, excellence, entertainment, cultural preservation, and global relevance.

She believes that content can keep its local flavor while still appealing to people from different cultures through shared human experiences.

The company has made films that focus on Nigerian traditions and cultural practices. One of their films, ‘Afamefuna: An Nwa Boi Story’, is the first feature film about the Igbo apprenticeship system. Another, ‘Iwe Ala: An Ojude Oba Story’, looks at the importance of the Ojude Oba festival.

These films have received great feedback from audiences and art lovers for their portrayal of Nigerian cultural themes.

Come On Naija has also gained international recognition, winning three awards at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival in Canada. This success shows their commitment to real storytelling, high quality production, and global appeal.

The statement mentioned that besides filmmaking, the company is also engaged in cultural research and projects focused on Nigerian traditions. They aim to document cultural practices to preserve them for future generations.

Fajemirokun said the company will keep creating stories that showcase Nigeria’s diversity and creative potential. They also want to build partnerships that can help spread Nigerian content further.
