Cross River hands over Obudu Ranch Resort for 25 years

The Cross River State Government has given the Obudu Ranch Resort to Living Curation Real Estate Limited for 25 years.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the agreement was signed on Friday in Calabar between the state government and the concessionaire.

The State’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ededem Ani, signed on behalf of the government. He said the agreement covers the rehabilitation and development of the resort.

Mr Ani called the deal a big step in Governor Bassey Otu’s plan for tourism development. He said it shows the government's plan to attract private investment to make the state's tourism assets more valuable.

He explained that this concession will help redevelop the Obudu Cattle Ranch Resort, Utanga Safari Lodge, and the Bebi Airstrip. The goal is to turn these places into top tourist spots that can draw local and international visitors.

Mr Ani added that the project will boost economic activities in nearby communities. It will create jobs, support programs, and increase business activities.

He mentioned that women in these communities will benefit greatly, showing the government’s commitment to economic growth for everyone.

“The concession is expected to change these famous tourism sites into a world-class destination for tourism, hospitality, science, eco-tourism, and conservation. This aligns with the governor’s vision to make the state Nigeria’s top tourism spot,” he said.

Mr Ani stated that the concession would last for 25 years. After that, the improved facilities will go back to the state government.

He believes this partnership will reshape the state’s tourism industry while promoting environmental care, scientific eco-tourism, and sustainable development.

Amit Ghosh, a representative of the concessionaire, thanked Governor Otu for trusting the company. He promised to create a “world-class” tourism and hospitality destination that fits with the administration’s plans.
