The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has reminded people planning to go for the Hajj that they must complete their payment and registration by 26 September. This is the last date for the 2027 Hajj registration process.
The commission sent out this reminder on Monday. They urged anyone who has not finished their registration and payment to do so before this deadline.
NAHCON explained that this deadline follows the timelines set by Saudi authorities for organizing the 2027 pilgrimage.
Why September Deadline is Important
The deadline on 26 September is crucial due to new changes in how Saudi Arabia handles Hajj preparations. There is now a stronger focus on submitting data early and using digital platforms.
NAHCON had previously announced that this date is the last day for intending pilgrims to upload their biometric data on the Saudi-approved Nusuk-Masar digital platform.
They said it is important to comply on time for data synchronization and seat allocation. If people miss the deadline, they risk losing their allocated Hajj slots.
The commission has been urging state Muslim pilgrims’ welfare boards and those planning to go for Hajj to finish their processes in time for the pilgrimage.
Cost for 2027 Hajj
In August, NAHCON revealed the costs for pilgrims. Those traveling from Maiduguri and Yola will pay ₦7,560,822. Pilgrims from the northern zone will pay ₦7,672,822, while those from the southern part will pay ₦7,882,822.
The commission stated that these prices were set after discussions with state pilgrims’ welfare boards and service providers in Saudi Arabia, considering current exchange rates and service costs.
Intending pilgrims who have already paid ₦5 million are instructed to pay the remaining balance to finish their registration.
NAHCON also set 2 December as the deadline for states to send in all 2027 Hajj fares. No extensions will be given, and timely remittances by the states are essential for data synchronization and seat allocation.
Early Preparations
NAHCON started preparing for the 2027 pilgrimage shortly after the 2026 Hajj was completed.
NAHCON Chairman Ismail Yusuf mentioned in July that they began preparations for the 2027 event according to Saudi Arabia’s timelines. He said Nigeria has been given about 50,000 slots for the pilgrimage.
The annual Hajj Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia is expected to be signed in November 2026.
The chairman also noted that Saudi Arabia suggested shifting Nigeria’s Hajj operations towards a mostly private tour-operator model. He said while this could have benefits, it should happen gradually and with careful planning, considering Nigeria’s demographic realities and the abilities of private operators.
Five Airlines Approved for Airlift
As part of the early preparations, NAHCON has approved five airlines to transport Nigerian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia in 2027.
The approved airlines are Air Peace, Flynas, Max Air, Saudi Air, and UMZA Aviation Services. This early approval should give the commission and other stakeholders more time to plan and tackle some of the logistical challenges faced in previous Hajj operations.
Pilgrims Urged to Act Now
This reminder means that intending pilgrims have until 26 September to meet the important registration deadline for the 2027 Hajj. NAHCON is asking anyone who has not completed their payments and registration to do so before the deadline.
The commission aims to align Nigeria’s Hajj operations with Saudi Arabia’s more tech-driven and deadline-focused system. With preparations already in motion and another major payment deadline in December, the 2027 Hajj is set to follow an earlier planning schedule than in past years.
