Durosinmi Excited About Scoring for Genk

Genk striker Rafiu Durosinmi has shown happiness with his scoring form for KRC Genk in Belgium. He scored again in the club’s 4-0 win over Beveren on Friday.

Durosinmi started the scoring from the penalty spot just nine minutes into the match. This brought his goal tally to four in four league matches since joining the team.

The 23-year-old believes his good start comes from the support of his teammates.

“I feel very good, and above all I am very happy. This is a good start,” Durosinmi told hbvl.

“The team helped me score. We have a lot of quality in the team, and if you have a good group it becomes easier to play.”

Genk brought Durosinmi in from Italian club Pisa during the off-season. They needed to fill the gap after Hyun-Gyu Oh left for Beşiktaş in February. At Pisa, he scored just one goal in 12 games. Previously, he scored 13 goals in 30 matches for Viktoria Plzeň.

Durosinmi’s strong start has led to comparisons with Nigerian forwards who have done well at Genk in the past. These include Paul Onuachu and Tolu Arokodare.

Onuachu holds the record for the most goals in a single Belgian league season. He scored 33 goals in 38 games and had 85 goals in 134 matches for Genk before moving to Southampton.

Arokodare also had an impressive run, scoring 41 goals in 113 games for Genk before his transfer to Wolves.
