Edo Queens head coach Moses Aduku has urged his players to stay focused. The Benin City team is just one win away from clinching the 2026 Nigeria Women Football League Premiership Super Six title. They achieved this after a tough 2-1 victory over Rivers Angels on Friday, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
This win on Matchday Four moved Edo Queens to the top of the table with nine points from four matches. They are now set for a decisive final match against defending champions Bayelsa Queens at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
The turnaround for Edo Queens in this competition has been impressive. After losing their first match of the Super Six, they have won three matches in a row, putting the title within their reach.
Aduku praised his players' determination after the win. But he also reminded them not to celebrate too early. βI want to give kudos to my girls for playing to instruction and also for believing in ourselves that we could bounce back after that opening defeat,β the coach said.
βWe are not celebrating yet. Our focus completely shifts to Bayelsa Queens, thatβs all I can say for now. We know we have one final hurdle to clear against a very tough opponent who happens to be the defending champions,β Aduku warned.
Bayelsa Queens will come into the match eager to defend their title. This makes the final game an exciting matchup. For Edo Queens, a win would mark a significant achievement and give them their first NWFL Premiership title.
