Edo Queens have won the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership. They clinched the title after a goalless draw against Bayelsa Queens in the final match of the Super Six playoffs. The match took place at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday.

Bayelsa Queens needed to win the match to take the title, while Edo Queens only needed a draw. The team from Benin played well, sticking to their game plan in a tough match. Both teams had chances but could not score.

The draw gave Edo Queens their second NWFL Premiership title. This win shows they are a strong team in Nigerian women's football. They now join Bayelsa Queens as the only clubs to have won the league two times in the last six seasons.

Head coach Moses Aduku made history as well. He is now the first manager to win three NWFL Premiership titles in six seasons. He led Bayelsa Queens to the title in 2022 and then helped Edo Queens win in 2024 and 2026.

On Matchday 5, Nasarawa Amazons and Rivers Angels also played a goalless draw. FC Robo Queens managed to come back and finish 1, 1 against Abia Angels.

In the final standings, Edo Queens topped the Super Six table with 10 points. They finished two points ahead of Bayelsa Queens, who were in second place. Nasarawa Amazons came in third. Abia Angels ended their first season with six points, while FC Robo Queens and Rivers Angels both finished with four points.

Individual awards went to FC Robo Queens’ Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, who was named Player of the Season. Abia Angels’ Fatima Oloko won Goalkeeper of the Season. Abasiofon Uwah from Rivers Angels and Atume Doosuur from Edo Queens shared the Golden Boot, each scoring 13 goals. Rivers Angels received the Fair Play Prize.

As champions, Edo Queens will represent Nigeria at the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League qualifiers in Burkina Faso. The qualifiers run from August 13 to September 5. They hope to qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League and possibly the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.

The grand finale had many important guests, including NFF board member Aisha Falode, former board member Chris Green, Bayelsa State Deputy Governor Peter Akpe, Bayelsa State Commissioner for Sports Daniel Igali, Edo State Sports Commission Chairman Desmond Enabulele, NFF Director of Competitions Ruth David, and Bendel Insurance Chairman Jarrett Tenebe.
