Chioma Moses was the star of the match, scoring four goals as Edo Queens defeated Abia Angels 6-2 in the Nigeria Women Football League Super Six in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on match-day three.
Moses kicked things off with a goal in the third minute, giving Edo Queens a fantastic start. But Mariam Abdulrasheed equalized for Abia Angels in the 11th minute after a mistake in defense.
Moses quickly put Edo Queens back in front just before halftime, scoring again in stoppage time to make it 2-1 as they headed to the break.
After halftime, Edo Queens took charge. Substitute Precious Oscar scored in the 52nd minute, stretching the lead to 3-1. Just two minutes later, Atume Doosuur added another goal, making it 4-1 and putting Edo in control.
Moses capped off her incredible performance with two more goals in the 72nd and 81st minutes. This brought her total to four goals for the match and sealed the win for Edo Queens.
Abia Angels did find a late goal through Blessing Saleh in the 87th minute, but it was not enough to change the outcome of the game.
Edo Queens coach Moses Aduku praised his team's determination in this victory. He said they would keep this same energy in their next matches against Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens.
“Abia is a good side, but we triumphed through determination. For me, the Super Six has just started. We will approach our last two games with the same spirit,” Aduku said.
Team captain Deborah Odiagbe warned against being too relaxed as they aim for the title.
In other matches, Bayelsa Queens won against Rivers Angels with a score of 2-1, and FC Robo Queens beat Nasarawa Amazons 2-0.
