Egyptian teenager Hamza Abdelkarim will sign a new contract with Barcelona next week that will keep him at the club until 2030, the team announced on Friday.
The 18-year-old joined Barcelona on loan from Al Ahly in Cairo back in February. He made his move permanent in the summer after he played for Egypt in the World Cup.
Abdelkarim made history as the youngest player to play for Egypt at the World Cup. He took to the field in four out of the five games his team played.
He showed his skills during pre-season with Barcelona, scoring four goals in five matches. He made his first competitive appearance for the Spanish champions as a substitute in last month's 5-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.
The club confirmed he will sign his contract extension on Tuesday.
