Supporters of Enyimba International Football Club in Aba have asked the club's management to build a strong team. They want the team to earn a continental ticket in the upcoming Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The supporters spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Aba on Tuesday.
NAN reports that Enyimba finished the 2025/2026 NPFL season in 11th place with 49 points from 38 matches.
The fans were not happy with the club's performance last season. They expected better results from the team, which has a rich history as former continental champions.
One supporter, Obinna Ohacha, said he wants the club to return to continental football this season. "Enyimba is a household name and has become a continental club after winning two CAF trophies; so we are not demanding too much from the club," Ohacha said.
Another fan, Ekenedirichukwu Odunze, expressed disappointment that the club fought against relegation for much of the last season. They only escaped on the final match day. "Now we are going into the new season, and I hope the management and recruitment team have done their job well to avoid unwanted excuses," he said.
Ifeoma Egbelu also shared her thoughts. She said Enyimba holds a special place in the hearts of Aba residents, who expect the club to do well every season. "Unfortunately, Enyimba will not be playing continental football this coming season, but the club should know that the Aba people need continental football."
Egbelu added, "Aba people need good and quality football to justify the money and time they spend at the stadium, because many of them are business people."
The supporters called on the club's management to strengthen the squad with quality players. They want to see effective preparation ahead of the new season.
They also urged players and the technical crew to show greater commitment. The goal is to restore Enyimba’s status as one of Nigeria’s top clubs.
