Writer and producer Faith Akinola will present her new play, ‘The Letter’, on September 26, 2026. This event is organized by Mustard Tree Productions.
The play looks at themes like identity, rejection, societal pressure, emotional healing, and restoration. It tells the story of a young bride whose dreams for a major life event are suddenly thrown off track.
Set in a festive atmosphere filled with family expectations, the play follows the main character as she faces disappointment, cultural norms, unwanted advice, and public judgment.
Akinola shared her thoughts on the production, saying it looks into how people react when life changes unexpectedly.
She explained, “At its heart, ‘The Letter’ asks what happens when the life you imagined suddenly changes, and whether disappointment should ever be allowed to determine how you see yourself. It is a story about finding your way back to identity, hope and wholeness.”
The play mixes drama, music, and symbolic staging to convey its message. It takes the audience through the main character’s personal battles and her journey toward healing.
Notable cast members include Tina Mba, Kate Henshaw, Oluchi Odi, and Mich Straw, among others.
Presented by Mustard Tree Productions, which Akinola founded, the production aims to create compelling stories and experiences in theatre, film, and live shows.
With support from Providus Unity, the play combines theatre, music, and storytelling to explore themes of rejection, resilience, and restoration.
