Gospel singer Faith Sani has just released her new project called ‘Igala Medley’. She describes it as a musical piece that mixes faith, culture, and worship.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, Sani shared what inspired the song. She said, “The Holy Spirit is the inspiration behind it. I have done so many songs in English, Yoruba, and Igbo languages. When I received the inspiration to do ‘Igala Medley’, I began putting the songs together. Some of the choruses were composed by me, while others were written by my Igala sisters.”
Sani explained that she chose this time to release the song because she wants to send a message of hope during tough times in Nigeria. She said, “In times like this, I acknowledge the struggles many are experiencing. However, despair is not the answer. I encourage us to remain hopeful as we lift our voices in praise, trusting that God who sees our hearts hears our prayers and is able to bring restoration and transformation to our nation.”
Cultural Identity in the Video
The new video for the song shows off her cultural identity. It features traditional Igala clothes, dancers, and choreography. According to her, the project aims to bring joy and gratitude to listeners.
Sani talked about how her experience in church music has influenced her style as an artist. She said, “Being a longtime choir member shaped me in many ways. It taught me discipline, humility, teamwork, and the importance of using my voice to glorify God.”
Sani also shared her thoughts on balancing faith, culture, and art. She said her journey has been both spiritual and cultural. “Igala Medley is where my culture meets my faith. I incorporated cultural attire, dancers, and traditional dance styles. I was not raised in a Christian home; in fact, I was born a Muslim. My journey has brought me to a place where I now use my gift to praise God while still celebrating the beauty of my Igala heritage,” she said.
