Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, known as Falz, has dropped a new song called ‘Ole’.

The 2-minute 15-second rap was released on Friday. It talks about insecurity, inflation, and bad governance in Nigeria.

The 35-year-old lawyer-turned-artist has become famous for using his music to address social and political issues.

He is known for his song “This Is Nigeria,” which tackled corruption, insecurity, and social inequality. Falz has always used his music to comment on national problems.

The song’s title, Ole, means “thief” in Yoruba. The word comes up often in the song as the artist blames political leaders for not solving Nigeria’s problems.

The release comes at a time when many people are worried about the high cost of living and ongoing security issues in the country. In this track, Falz delivers some of his strongest political messages in a while.

In Ole, he talks about kidnappings, killings, and attacks that are still affecting communities in Nigeria.

“Many still ain’t really free, Many losing all the will, Many soldiers in the field/Many brothers dem dey kill,” he raps in one verse.

The song also highlights worries about abductions and violent crimes.

“Many people wey dem kidnap. And dem turn them to deceased,” Falz says in his rap.

This release comes as Nigeria still faces security challenges. Armed groups attack, and kidnappings for ransom are common in many states.

There have been recent attacks in communities and abductions of school children in Oyo, Borno, and Kwara states, raising fears about public safety.

Falz also speaks on economic struggles, especially rising inflation and the high cost of living.

“How many we go take before we don fed up? Inflation rate is high, like my blood pressure,” he raps.

Politicians

Falz also takes aim at politicians for using ethnic divisions and poverty to their advantage.

“Don’t think that you can whip up tribal sentiments for life. Keep keeping people poor and hope that you can weaponise. Hope that you can bank on all the hungry votes that you can buy,” he says.

In another part of the song, he questions how the government handles insecurity.

“Security welfare na the primary job you take,” he raps, referencing the government’s duty to protect lives and property.

Falz also condemns the killing of security personnel and ongoing attacks by criminals.

“For under your nose dem kill a whole brigadier general,” he says. “Who dem catch for the crime? Arrest count still on zero.”

In this song, Falz points out the government’s lack of action amid serious national issues.

Ole is available on all streaming platforms.
