Fans Show Support for Mr P Amid P-Square Family Drama

Many social media users are backing Peter “Mr P” Okoye as his public fight with his twin brother, Paul “Rudeboy” Okoye, and their elder brother, Jude Okoye, keeps trending online.

The support for Mr P has grown as he continues his video series where he talks about the issues that led to P-Square’s breakups and their family’s long-standing money problems. In the videos, which have now reached Part Six, he accused Jude of trying to take over P-Square, holding back financial records, blocking access to the group’s backend catalogue, and mishandling royalty payments.

Jude has denied these claims, calling them “blatant lies” and “manipulative tactics.” He says that the royalty payments and financial records in question were already shared during the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigation and are still in court.

P-Square, which includes Mr P and Rudeboy, started in 1999 and became one of Africa’s biggest music groups with hits like “Bizzy Body,” “Do Me,” “Personally,” “No One Like,” “You,” and “Chop My Money.” The brothers first split in 2017 but got back together in 2021. Sadly, they broke up again in 2024 due to fresh arguments about money and management.

The disagreement later led to an EFCC investigation, which resulted in criminal charges against Jude for alleged money laundering of around ₦1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59. He has pleaded not guilty, and the case is still before the Federal High Court in Lagos.

As Mr P keeps dropping new episodes of his video series, many fans are going on social media to show their support for him. Some are even accusing Jude and Rudeboy of treating Mr P badly over the years.

Supporters have also started an online campaign asking fans to subscribe to Mr P’s YouTube channel and stream his new single, “I Can’t Look Away,” to show their support.

At the time of this report, Mr P’s YouTube subscriber count had reportedly jumped from about 777,000 to over 823,000. The music video for “I Can’t Look Away” has also passed two million views. PREMIUM TIMES cannot confirm these numbers, but they have been shared widely among fans.

Some fans said that Mr P’s choice to publicly share his side of the story was long overdue. They feel they now understand better why P-Square has had so many breakups.

The renewed family feud is happening at the same time as the ongoing criminal case against Jude.

Earlier this year, the EFCC brought Jude before the Federal High Court in Lagos on money laundering charges. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail.

During the court hearings, Mr P testified as a witness for the prosecution, while Rudeboy defended Jude, which showed the deep rifts within the family.

Mr P has said that he will keep releasing more episodes of his video series. He promises to share what he calls the complete story behind P-Square’s downfall.

Jude, on the other hand, has stated that he will let the court settle the matter and will not engage in any more public discussions until the judgment is given.
