Peter “Mr P” Okoye is seeing big growth in his music, social media, and fashion as fans rally behind him during the renewed P-Square family feud.
The 44-year-old singer has gained over one million subscribers on YouTube. He also reached 500,000 monthly listeners on Spotify for the first time in his solo career. Mr P reported that nearly 3,000 of his Red ZR caps were sold in just seven days.
These achievements come as Mr P shares an eight-part series about P-Square’s history and the issues with his twin brother, Paul, and their older brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
In the series, Peter made several claims about the group's money and management, his relationship with his brothers, and the treatment of his wife, Lola Omotayo-Okoye, and their son. Jude and Paul have challenged some of his statements and shared their own sides of the story.
Social media reacted strongly to the videos, with many fans supporting Peter. They encouraged others to listen to his songs, subscribe to his YouTube channel, and buy from his brand. Some fans even started a campaign to boost Mr P’s YouTube subscribers above Paul’s, who had about 2.17 million at the last check.
Before the feud escalated, Mr P had 777,000 YouTube subscribers. His count has now jumped to 1.02 million, showing an increase of about 243,000. His new song, “I Can’t Look Away,” has also gained 3.7 million views on YouTube.
On Spotify, Album Talks announced on Sunday that Mr P had hit 500,000 monthly listeners for the first time. They wrote, “Mr P (Peter Psquare) surpasses 500k monthly listeners on Spotify for the first time.”
While this newspaper couldn’t confirm how many Instagram followers Mr P had before the series, he now boasts 12.1 million followers. The buzz has also reached Zipp Republic, the lifestyle and streetwear brand Mr P started.
On Sunday, he shared on X that almost 3,000 red ZR snapback caps, which he wore during his series, were sold in just a week. He said, “Guys, we honestly didn’t see this coming. Almost 3,000 Red ZR CAPS sold in the last 7 days, and more orders are still pouring in every second, ZippRepublic. We are overwhelmed with orders right now, so please be a little patient with us. We promise every single order will be delivered asap.”
Mr P expressed gratitude to his fans for their support. He also mentioned plans to expand Zipp Republic’s products to include gym wear, sportswear, and children's clothing. The Red ZR Snapback Hat is currently priced at ₦20,000, down from ₦45,000.
Mr P shared the sales number, which this newspaper could not verify independently. Peter and Paul started P-Square and became one of Africa’s top music duos before their first breakup in 2017.
The twins reconciled in 2021 but split again in 2024 over renewed disputes about finances and management. This led to an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and a court case involving Jude, who denied any wrongdoing.
Peter testified as a witness for the prosecution, while Paul defended Jude publicly. The family feud became more public after Peter started his tell-all series, making new allegations about P-Square’s breakups and their financial issues.
Jude publicly rejected claims of financial misconduct and accused Peter of twisting the facts about P-Square’s finances and family disagreements. The feud got even messier when another brother, Henry, spoke out.
Henry accused Jude of causing divisions in the family, saying he had supported Peter and Paul early in their career before Jude took over management. Despite the drama, Henry expressed a desire for family reconciliation and urged Jude to help mend things between Peter and Paul.
