FIFA has revealed the official Team of the Tournament for the World Cup 2026. Fans helped pick the team, with the new champions Spain getting three players in the Best XI.
The announcement came on Wednesday from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on his X page and from Real Madrid's official website.
Set up in a 4-3-3 formation, the team includes standout players from seven countries who shone during the tournament co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Spain's winning squad had defender Marc Cucurella, full-back Pedro Porro, and midfielder Rodri in the lineup.
Argentina, the runners-up, had two players in the team: captain Lionel Messi and defender Lisandro Martínez. France also had three players in the Best XI, Golden Boot winner Kylian Mbappé, winger Michael Olise, and centre-back Dayot Upamecano.
England's Jude Bellingham, Norway's Erling Haaland, and Cape Verde's goalkeeper Vozinha rounded out the 11-man team.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored three goals, did not make the team. Portugal was knocked out in the Round of 16 after a 1-0 loss to Spain.
Mbappé earned his spot after finishing as the tournament's top scorer with 10 goals.
The French forward played all eight matches, had four assists, and took 23 shots on target during the tournament.
He also became the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history and France’s top scorer in the tournament.
Messi was key to Argentina’s journey to the final, scoring eight goals and providing four assists.
Cucurella was a standout for Spain, playing every minute of their victorious tournament.
He also made two assists as Spain kept seven clean sheets on their way to winning the trophy.
Bellingham got recognition for helping England secure third place.
He became the first English player to score seven goals in a single World Cup, featuring in all eight of England’s matches, starting seven, and adding one assist and eight key passes.
