Former Barcelona Coach Koeman Loses His Wife

Former Barcelona and Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman has shared the sad news about his wife, Bartina Koeman's death.

He posted a touching tribute on his Instagram on Wednesday. He called Bartina his “beautiful wife” and the family’s “dearest mother and grandmother.”

“With intense sadness, but also with great pride and love, we say goodbye to my beautiful wife, our dearest mother and grandmother,” Koeman wrote.

Barcelona reached out to Koeman and his family to express their condolences after Bartina's passing.

“FC Barcelona and its supporters send their deepest condolences and affection to Ronald Koeman and his family for the passing of his wife, Bartina Koeman. May she rest in peace,” the club stated.

The Netherlands national team also remembered Bartina and offered their support to Koeman, his children, grandchildren, and other family members.

“We wish Ronald, their (grand)children, family, and other loved ones a great deal of strength and support in the face of this great loss,” the national team said.

Koeman, who is 63 years old, is a well-known figure in Dutch football. He had a successful playing career before he became a coach.

He was in charge of Barcelona from 2020 to 2021. He also managed the Netherlands, Everton, Southampton, Ajax, and a few other clubs.

Koeman and Bartina had been married for many years and have three children together.

The family has requested privacy as they go through this difficult time.
