The National Emergency Management Agency has reported that four people died after a heavy rainstorm in Kware Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Tukur Abubakar, who is the Head of Response, Research and Statistics at NEMA Sokoto Field Office, shared this news with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Sokoto.
Abubakar mentioned that NEMA checked the damage in the affected areas. These areas include Mallamawa, Mai Mushe, Kaura, Sabon Gari, Rungin Tsamiya, and nearby settlements in Kware LGA.
"Preliminary findings revealed that hundreds of households were affected, while many people sustained injuries and four deaths were recorded as a result of the disaster," he said.
He also noted that the assessment team found serious damage to homes and important public facilities. This includes a primary school and a hospital, which shows how bad the situation is.
According to him, the assessment aimed to figure out the level of damage and find out the urgent needs of the affected communities.
