Fury and Joshua set for single showdown without rematch clause

British heavyweight boxers Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua met for a press conference in London on September 30, 2026. They are preparing for their highly awaited fight in Wales on December 11. This match could be a significant moment in their careers.

Fury and Joshua will not have a rematch clause in their contract when they finally face off. This fight has been seen as a big showdown in their long-standing rivalry. The December 11 event is arranged as a one-time fight, and losing could make either fighter think about retirement.

Spencer Brown, Fury’s manager, told Sky Sports that there will be no rematch clause. He did not completely rule out a second fight if the situation allows.

“Contractually, there’s one fight. There’s one big fight. It was designed for that. I’m not saying there can’t be a second fight. But, if Tyson wins, we’d like to resume things with [Oleksandr] Usyk as well,” Brown said.

Brown thinks the loser might face serious questions about their future in boxing. “They’re all close to the end of their careers,” he said. “Whoever loses here, where do they go? That’s a tough one. Where do they go afterwards? Whoever wins, the journey continues. Whoever loses, they’ve got to think about what they’re going to do and when they’re going to do it.”

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, also confirmed that there is no rematch clause in place. He noted that the importance of this fight may make a second meeting hard to turn down.

“No rematch clause. It’s one fight, one-off. Listen, if it’s a blockbuster, I’m sure they’ll do it again,” Hearn told Sky Sports News. “But for our mindset, it’s one and done. Go in there, end this guy and on we go.”

Hearn believes the urge to win will drive both fighters to give their all, no matter how the fight goes. “Both guys could be down in this fight but they’re so desperate to win you can guarantee they’ll be climbing and crawling off that canvas to win the fight.”
