Galatasaray is planning to make a bold move for Nigerian stars Ademola Lookman and Raphael Onyedika. The Turkish champions want to boost their squad for another chance at European football. But both transfers have their challenges, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

Reports from Turkish outlet A Spor say Galatasaray sees the two Nigerian players as key targets this summer. This would strengthen their already impressive Nigerian lineup after Victor Osimhen joined from Napoli last year.

Of the two players, Onyedika seems like a more realistic option. The 25-year-old midfielder has chosen not to renew his contract with Club Brugge. His current deal runs until June 2027, but the Belgian team is open to offers around €20 million to keep from losing leverage as his contract winds down.

Galatasaray has been interested in the Super Eagles midfielder for a long time. His strong pressing and calmness on the ball have caught the attention of clubs all over Europe. Teams like Aston Villa, West Ham United, and Everton are also watching his situation closely.

Onyedika’s strong performances at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and his steady play in the Belgian Pro League, where Brugge won the title, have only increased his value. German club Wolfsburg had a €20 million bid turned down during the winter transfer window, showing the tough competition Galatasaray faces.

The situation with Lookman is much trickier. The 28-year-old forward just joined Atlético Madrid from Atalanta in February for around €35 million, plus add-ons, signing a contract that lasts until 2030.

However, sources from Spain and Turkey say Atlético might consider offers around €60 million this summer. Lookman has reportedly found it hard to fit into Diego Simeone’s tough defensive system, even though he scored four goals in La Liga and netted in the Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League.

If Lookman becomes available, many clubs are ready to jump in. Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Juventus, and Fenerbahçe, who nearly signed him before Atlético did in January, are all said to be watching the situation.

Galatasaray will face a tough challenge to compete financially with these clubs, especially the Premier League teams, if they are serious about signing either player.
