Ghana has reached out to Crystal Palace striker Eddie Nketiah about possibly switching his international loyalty from England. This was reported by Standard Sport on Thursday.

The report says that the 27-year-old is thinking about this offer but has not yet made a decision on whether to play for Ghana, the country where his parents are from.

Nketiah was born in Lewisham, south London, to Ghanaian parents. He has played for England at the youth level and is the all-time leading scorer for the Under-21 team.

He made his only senior appearance for England in October 2023. He came on for Ollie Watkins in the 73rd minute during a 1-0 friendly win against Australia at Wembley.

Because he has only one senior cap, he can still change his allegiance according to FIFA's rules, as long as he meets the necessary conditions.

Ghana is eager to add Nketiah to their squad, which already includes Manchester City winger Antoine Semenyo and Coventry City midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi.

Nketiah joined Crystal Palace after leaving Arsenal. He has started all three of the club's Premier League matches this season under new manager Pierre Sage.

This solid start to the season comes after he struggled with injuries last season. Standard Sport mentioned that Ghana has shown a long-term interest in Nketiah and has made another move to persuade him to join the Black Stars.
