Erling Haaland, the Manchester City striker, has passed Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s international goals record. He now matches Didier Drogba after scoring his 65th goal for Norway.
Haaland hit this milestone in Norway’s 2-1 loss to Portugal on Sunday. Earlier, he scored twice in their 3-2 victory over Denmark in the Nations League.
The 26-year-old has 65 goals in 57 matches for Norway. He now sits above Ibrahimovic’s 62 goals for Sweden and equals Drogba’s 65 international goals for Ivory Coast.
Haaland had already moved ahead of Ibrahimovic and Brazil’s Ronaldo, who both scored 62 international goals, with his two goals against Denmark.
On Tuesday, the Premier League announced that Haaland is now the top scorer in UEFA Nations League history. He has netted 22 goals since the competition started in 2018.
His recent international goals come during a strong start to the 2026/27 season. He is currently leading the Premier League Golden Boot race with five goals for Manchester City.
Haaland has two more Nations League matches coming up with Norway during this international window. Norway will play against Wales on Thursday.
After that, they will head to Portugal for another match against Roberto Martinez’s team on Sunday. The striker will return to Manchester City after these games, as the Premier League is set to resume with City facing Liverpool on October 11.
