Hull City has announced that Nigerian winger David Akintola’s contract has ended by mutual agreement. This will help him finalize a permanent move to Omonoia FC in Cyprus.
The 30-year-old player joined Hull City from Turkish club Çaykur Rizespor in August 2025. He played 21 matches during the 2025/26 season.
Akintola scored one goal and made two assists, helping Hull City earn their promotion to the Premier League.
He made his debut for Hull City as a substitute in the Tigers’ 3-2 win against Oxford United in August 2025. He continued to play throughout the season.
The Nigerian also took part in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup while with Hull.
Before his move to England, Akintola played for Turkish teams Adana Demirspor and Hatayspor. He also had stints with clubs in Norway and Cyprus.
Hull City expressed their gratitude to Akintola for his time at the MKM Stadium.
"We would like to thank David for his efforts throughout his time at the MKM Stadium and wish him well for the future," the club stated on its X handle on Thursday.
Akintola’s exit clears the way for him to return to Cyprus and finish his transfer to Omonoia FC as Hull City looks ahead to their new life in the Premier League.
