I won’t trade comfort for style, Arikegold

Popular actress and event planner, Folorunsho Adeola, known as Arikegold, has said she will never give up her comfort for fashion.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, she said, “One thing I would never do in the name of fashion is wear something that makes me uncomfortable or makes me feel like I am not myself, no matter how expensive or trendy it is.”

Arikegold shared that her journey in entertainment has helped her grow her event-planning business.

She explained that her experience as an entertainer has taught her key skills in understanding people, communication, and creativity as an event planner.

She said, “Being an entertainer has helped my event-planning business in many ways, especially when it comes to understanding people, communication and creativity. Entertainment has taught me how to connect with different personalities, understand what an audience wants, and pay attention to the little details that can make an experience memorable.”

“Being in entertainment has also given me visibility and a network of people across different areas of the industry. That has helped me build relationships and understand how to work with different vendors, creatives, clients and professionals.”

Lessons from Fame

When talking about what she has learned from fame, Arikegold pointed out that visibility does not always mean a lasting career or business.

“I have learnt that visibility is not the same thing as sustainability. You can be popular, have millions of people following you and still not have a solid business behind that visibility. Fame can open the door, but you have to know what to do with the opportunity when the door opens.”

“Most importantly, I have learnt that fame can come and go, but skills, relationships, reputation and a good business foundation can sustain you. So, today, I don’t just want to be seen; I want my visibility to create value, opportunities and something that can last.”

“When I started, I thought fame was the biggest achievement. I believed that once people knew you, the money and opportunities would naturally follow. But with experience, I have realised that fame is only one part of the journey,” she said.
