Iheanacho wins best player award in Turkey

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been named the best player of the first eight rounds of the Turkish 1. Lig by beIN SPORTS. He has had an impressive start at Bursaspor, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

The award was given during the beIN 1. Lig program by moderator Turgay Keskin and commentator Tunç Kayacı. They also picked Bursaspor as the best team after the first eight rounds.

Iheanacho, who is 29 years old, has scored 11 goals and made two assists in just eight league matches. He has scored in every game since joining the Turkish club as a free agent this summer.

His goals have helped Bursaspor start the season well. The club has won six matches and drawn one out of their first eight, putting them at the top of the table with 19 points.

His latest goals came in Bursaspor's 2-1 win against Batman Petrolspor on September 19. He scored two goals, including the winner in the 85th minute.

This brace extended his scoring streak to eight consecutive league matches. He matched the club record set by former striker Fernandao in the 2014/15 season.

Iheanacho's great form has also brought him back to the Super Eagles. Coach Eric Chelle included him in the squad for Nigeria's friendly against Russia on October 6.

He joined Bursaspor after leaving Celtic, where he helped the team win the Scottish league and cup double last season.

Before Celtic, he played for Sevilla and Middlesbrough. His strong start in Turkey has quickly made him a key player in Bursaspor's push for promotion. The club is currently leading the second-tier standings after eight matches.
