Irish Boxer in Hospital After Knockout Loss

Irish boxer Lee Reeves is in a serious but stable condition in the hospital. This follows his 10th-round knockout loss to Gary Cully during their vacant BUI Celtic super-lightweight title fight at Dublin’s 3Arena on Saturday night.

The 31-year-old from Limerick was taken out of the ring on a stretcher after the match. He was rushed to the hospital for medical care.

Queensberry Promotions confirmed on Sunday that Reeves is still in a serious but stable state. According to BBC Sport, a spokesperson said, “Lee Reeves is still in hospital, in a critical but stable condition. We will know more in the coming days, and our thoughts and prayers remain with Lee and his family.”

Cully, who won the fight with a late stoppage, praised Reeves after the match. He expressed hope for Reeves' recovery. “Hopefully he’s okay. He came in there as a big underdog after fighting relatively at a lower level up until now, but he really showed that he can operate at a higher level. Huge credit to him,” Cully said.

Frank Warren, the promoter for Queensberry, also sent a message of support. He mentioned that everyone at the promotion is thinking of Reeves and his family. They are in constant contact with his team to stay updated on his condition.

This fight was part of the undercard for Pierce O’Leary’s matchup with Mark Chamberlain. Chamberlain won the main event with a 10th-round knockout.
