The long-awaited heavyweight fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is set for November, with the USA now a possible venue along with the UK, according to Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Hearn said both countries are in talks to host this all-British fight. The final decision will rest with Saudi sports chief Turki Alalshikh, who has been key to making this fight happen.
“The UK and America are both in discussions right now. It’ll be down to Turki Alalshikh where that fight’s held, but we’re being told middle of November. Joshua’s got to get the job done against Prenga first,” Hearn said.
Many boxing fans are surprised that the USA is on the list of possible venues. Most expected the fight to take place in the UK or Saudi Arabia.
Wembley Stadium is still the top choice for UK fans. Joshua has fought there four times in pay-per-view events, while Fury has fought there just once, when he stopped Dillian Whyte in six rounds during their 2022 WBC title fight.
Before they can fight each other, both boxers have other matches to focus on. Joshua will face Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on July 25 on DAZN PPV. This will be his first fight since a tragic accident that killed two of his close friends.
Prenga, who is 35 years old and based in Englewood, New Jersey, has a record of 20 wins and one loss, with all 20 wins coming by knockout. He is determined to be more than just a warm-up for Joshua.
“I’m going to spoil that fight,” Prenga told FightsATW, speaking about the Joshua-Fury clash. “Maybe Fury will fight me after I knock out Joshua? I’m going to shock the world.”
Fury also confirmed on Tuesday via Instagram that he will fight in Dublin on August 1. However, he has not named an opponent yet.
His last fight was on April 11, where he won against Russia’s Arslanbek Makhmudov on points at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The 37-year-old has been out of world title contention since he lost two fights to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024. But he is still one of the biggest names in boxing.
Joshua has fought in the USA only twice. He stopped Paul but suffered a surprising loss to Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019. Fury has fought all three of his matches against Deontay Wilder in the USA.
