The conflict in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State is getting worse. This is because of disagreements within the party’s Appeal Committee about the governorship primaries. Reports say both Shu’aibu Idris Miqati and his rival Ashiru have supporters who interpret the results in their favour.
This division is causing more political tension in the party. Meanwhile, the Miqati Support Group (MSG) is urging everyone to come together and support Miqati as the governorship election approaches.
At a press conference on Thursday in Kawo, Kaduna, Imrana Mansur, the State Coordinator of the group, said they will continue to see Miqati as the party’s rightful flagbearer. He believes that supporting Miqati is the best way to strengthen unity in the ADC.
Mansur asked other aspirants and their supporters to accept the appeal process results in good faith. He emphasized the need for everyone to work together for the party's success. He warned that continued internal conflict could hurt the ADC's chances in the elections.
"The interest of the party must override individual ambition. What we need now is unity, not further fragmentation," he said.
The Miqati camp is committed to peace and reconciliation. They are calling on party members to stay calm, obey the law, and focus on winning the elections.
