Harry Kane has shared that the wait for the Ballon d’Or results is stressing his family out. His wife is eager to know the outcome ahead of the ceremony on Monday in London.
After Bayern Munich drew 2-2 with Arsenal in the Champions League, Kane talked about the pressure building up before the big awards night.
Fabrizio Romano posted on X on Friday, “My wife would prefer to know the result now, and my family is very nervous,” Kane said.
“I understand France Football wants to keep quiet so that all the stars can be there, but from my side, of course I would like to know the result without waiting all evening. I will surely enjoy the night.”
The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony is scheduled for Monday, 26 October at the London Palladium. This is the first time the event will hold outside Paris.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the award and honors Sir Stanley Matthews, who won the first Ballon d’Or in 1956.
Kane is one of the favorites for the award after having a record-breaking 2025-26 season.
The Bayern striker netted 73 goals for club and country. He played a key role in helping the German champions win a domestic double and also stood out for England.
His impressive stats put him in the running to be the first English winner since Michael Owen in 2001. He could also be Bayern’s first winner since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge over 40 years ago.
Other top contenders include Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé, and last year's winner Ousmane Dembélé.
Kane has downplayed the focus on the individual award, saying he is more concerned about Bayern’s current season. Still, he admitted it has been tough to ignore the speculation.
“I try not to think about it. Obviously it is hard not to. There are always rumors and things flying around, so you try to stay away from it,” he added.
“We’ll have to just enjoy it and try not to stress out too much.”
With votes already submitted and the result kept secret, Kane and his family will have to wait until Monday night to see if the Ballon d’Or is coming his way.
