Super Falcons forward Uchenna Kanu says Zambia’s strong record won’t scare Nigeria as they gear up for their important match in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Group C. This is according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Nigeria lost 3-2 to Malawi in their first game and needs a win against the Copper Queens to save their campaign.
Zambia has not lost in the WAFCON group stage since 2018, but Kanu believes the Falcons should focus on earning points instead of worrying about Zambia’s record.
“Every team is good, and I think it’s important that we take every game seriously. It doesn’t matter who we’re playing,” Kanu told reporters in Morocco.
“Playing Zambia, it’s another game, another challenge, another opportunity to be ourselves on the field.
“It doesn’t matter when they lost or when they haven’t lost. We’re focusing on just getting the points and doing what we are set out to do.”
Kanu recognized Zambia’s talent but said the Falcons are eager for the match.
“Zambia is a good team, just like everyone else, and we’re looking forward to that day. It’s going to be a good game, and I’m excited,” she added.
The forward also urged Nigerians to keep supporting the team despite the loss to Malawi.
“Don’t give up on us. We’re still working to fix the things that we didn’t do right in the last game.
“We need everyone together. We can’t be divided. We are ready, and we will make Nigerians proud and bring everyone back together again,” Kanu concluded.
