Galatasaray player, Rafael Leão, has thanked Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, for letting him take a penalty during the club’s 4-0 win against Konyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Friday.

Leão scored his first goal for Galatasaray after Osimhen allowed him to take a second-half penalty, even though he is the team’s regular penalty taker.

This gesture came just a day after Osimhen and his partner welcomed their second daughter, Liora Audrey, on Thursday.

Osimhen started the scoring in the 12th minute with a header. He celebrated the goal by dedicating it to his newborn daughter.

After the match, Leão spoke on Galatasaray’s official YouTube channel. He mentioned that he encouraged Osimhen to score twice to celebrate the birth of his child.

“Yesterday was the birth of his second child. So I told him, ‘You should score two goals today.’ He could have scored the second goal, but he gave me the ball,” the Portuguese player said.

Leão praised Osimhen’s choice, saying it showed the strong team spirit in the Galatasaray squad.

“It’s about this kind of attitude. We have a great group, so I’m really happy to have this kind of teammates in the squad,” he added.

The former AC Milan player also thanked Osimhen for his kindness, saying the penalty meant a lot to him after struggling to score.

“I’m very grateful to him. He knows how much I struggled for that goal. I just want to give them back my quality and enjoy my game,” Leão said.

Osimhen’s decision let Leão score from the penalty spot, bringing the score to 4-0 and making it a great night for him.

Osimhen’s performance also made the night special, as he scored while celebrating the arrival of his second daughter.

This victory helped Galatasaray strengthen its position in the Turkish Super Lig as they continue their domestic campaign under manager Okan Buruk.
