Liam Delap has finished a record £50 million transfer from Chelsea to Nottingham Forest. He signed a five-year contract at the City Ground.

The 23-year-old striker comes to Forest after just one season at Stamford Bridge. There, he only scored one Premier League goal.

Delap hopes this move will boost his career and help him find the form he had during his breakout season with Ipswich in 2024-25.

He netted 12 league goals for Ipswich that season, even though the team only won four games and got relegated.

His strong performances caught the eye of Chelsea, who signed him for around £30 million. Now, a year later, Chelsea has reportedly made a £20 million profit by selling him to Forest for £50 million.

Delap’s speed, strength, and skill with the ball made him stand out at Ipswich. He had 26 shot-ending carries that season, the highest for any Premier League striker.

At Forest, he will be under manager Oliver Glasner, who Delap believes can help him grow as a player.

On Thursday, as reported by BBC Sport, Delap shared his thoughts on the transfer. He said, “This is a massive club with a big history.

“I spoke to the manager and I like his way. I think he can be the one to really help me develop and make that next step.”

Forest fans will be eager to see if Delap can get back to the level that made him one of the most exciting young strikers in the Premier League. The club is counting on this record investment to pay off.
