The group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup is over. Sixteen teams have been knocked out after not making it to the Round of 32.
Some of the notable teams that did not make it include Tunisia, Uruguay, Türkiye, Korea Republic, and Scotland. Newcomers Uzbekistan and Curaçao also faced elimination despite putting up good fights.
Africa had a good showing with nine out of its ten teams moving on to the knockout stage. Tunisia was the only team from the continent that did not make it after finishing last in Group F without earning any points.
Here are the 16 countries that have been eliminated after the group stage:

- Tunisia
- Türkiye
- Jordan
- Panama
- Qatar
- Czechia
- Curaçao
- Iraq
- Uruguay
- Saudi Arabia
- New Zealand
- Scotland
- Uzbekistan
- Korea Republic
- IR Iran
Uruguay, who reached the semi-finals in past tournaments, surprised many by exiting early with just two points in Group H, finishing third. Korea Republic also could not make it after ending up third in Group A behind Mexico and South Africa.
The Round of 32 starts on Sunday. The remaining 32 teams will fight for spots in the last 16 of the expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup.
