Man Arrested for Neighbour's Death in Ogun State

The Ogun State Police have arrested a 43-year-old man named Edebiri Temitope. He is linked to the death of his 38-year-old neighbour, Oje Michael Eje, in Mowe, Ogun State.

Oluseyi Babaseyi, the police spokesperson, shared this news in a statement on Friday. He said Temitope, who was earlier on the run, has now been caught and moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta for more investigation.

The trouble started after an incident involving Eje and Temitope's three-year-old child. According to the police, Eje was seen hugging and playing with the little boy. This act reportedly upset the child's father.

The police reported that Temitope thought Eje's interaction with the child was rough. Babaseyi explained, "A 38-year-old university graduate, Mike Oje, was reportedly beaten to death by his neighbour in Mowe, Ogun State. He was accused of hugging and playing with the neighbour’s 3-year-old child."

The police spokesperson added that Temitope got very angry over this situation and reacted violently. "The father, who was said to have been infuriated by what he described as Mike’s ‘rough play’, grabbed a bamboo stick, and repeatedly struck him until he collapsed and died," he said.

Eje was a university graduate with a degree in Guidance and Counselling. After the incident, Temitope and his family were said to have fled the area.

Later, the police confirmed that they arrested him regarding Eje's death. The command stated, "Edebiri Temitope, ‘M’, aged 43 years, who was earlier reported to be at large, has been arrested in connection with the death of Oje Michael Eje, ‘M’."

Babaseyi also mentioned that the suspect is now at the State CID for further investigation. "The suspect has been transferred to the State CID, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation," he said.
