Man City Breaks Record with €526m Spending in Transfer Window

Manchester City has topped the list for the highest transfer spending in one window. They spent €526.2m on new players, beating Liverpool, Chelsea, and Real Madrid.

Transfermarkt reported on Thursday that City is the first club to spend over €500m in a single transfer window. Their big spending came on the last day of the transfer window for the 2026/27 summer season.

This amount exceeded Liverpool's previous record of €483m from the 2025/26 summer window. Chelsea's €418m spending in the 2023/24 season and Real Madrid's €331m in 2019/20 are also among the highest amounts spent in a single window.

On deadline day, City’s spending jumped past the €500m mark. They brought in Iliman Ndiaye from Everton for €70m and Enzo Fernández from Chelsea for €145m. This fee matched the British transfer record.

City’s total spending for the summer transfer window reached €526.2m. This number is higher than the €483m Liverpool spent in the 2025/26 summer window.

City also signed Elliot Anderson for €135m and Ayyoub Bouaddi for €95m, among other players.

Despite this record spending, Transfermarkt noted that City made €337m from selling players. This means their net spend was €189m.

This record-setting window happened during a summer where many European clubs also spent heavily. Chelsea's €407m in the 2026/27 window is fourth on the all-time spending list.

Tottenham and Newcastle United also made it into the top 10 by spending over €300m each.

Before this, Liverpool held the record after spending €483m in the 2025/26 summer window. They signed Florian Wirtz for €125m and wrapped up the €145m deal for Alexander Isak.

Now, Manchester City has set a new high by being the first club to spend more than €500m in a single transfer window.
