Man Cuts Off Young Man's Wrist in Bauchi, Escapes

A man named Mamman Gore has been accused of cutting off the wrist of a 24-year-old man, Usman Idris, during a political fight in Bauchi city. This incident happened on Wednesday around 11.30 am behind Isiyaka Jibrin Quarters in the Bakin Kura area of the state capital.

Reports say that the victim was having a political argument with a man named Lawi when Gore showed up with a machete and cut off his wrist. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said the victim fell down and lost consciousness after the attack.

Habib mentioned that the victim was quickly taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he got medical help and is now responding to treatment. He also said that officers from the A Division Township have arrested Lawi, who is being held to help with the investigation.

But Gore, the main suspect who allegedly used the machete, reportedly ran away to an unknown place after the attack. "The victim was promptly evacuated and rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he received immediate medical attention and is currently admitted and responding to treatment," the statement said in part.

The police are working hard to find and catch the suspect who fled. The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, spoke against political violence and thuggery, saying that the police will not accept actions that threaten public peace and safety.

This incident took place less than a day after the police announced the arrest of a 24-year-old man, Abdulrazak Sale, for the alleged murder of a 46-year-old man, Rilwanu Dauda, in the Karofin Madaki area of the state. Habib said Sale was arrested three months after the alleged murder.
