The Adamawa State Police have arrested Abubakar Musa over the death of Nathaniel Yusuf, 30, from Jambutu Ward in Yola North Local Government Area.
On Monday, the police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, released a statement saying the arrest followed a report made at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Kofare by Grace Yusuf, the victim's sister.
Grace claimed that Abubakar attacked her brother. The police acted quickly after receiving the report. They rushed to the scene, found the victim, and took him to the Specialist Hospital in Jimeta for urgent care. They also arrested the suspect at the scene.
Initial investigations by the police showed that Nathaniel had serious injuries. He had fractures in both legs, his right hand, and injuries to his head after the alleged attack with a stick by Abubakar.
The statement mentioned that despite the doctors' efforts to save him, Nathaniel was later confirmed dead while getting treatment.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Kabiru Hassan, instructed the State Criminal Investigation Department in Yola to take over the case. He wants a thorough investigation and proper prosecution of the suspect according to the law.
The police also said that Nathaniel's body is now at the medical facility for an autopsy. They are still investigating the case.
The police assured the public of their commitment to justice. They urged community members to obey the law and provide credible information that can help with ongoing investigations.
