In a video from Tuesday’s game, Vinicius was seen telling Mbappe how to wear the shirt. The two, along with teammate Ibrahima Konate, seemed to roll it up or hold it in a way that covered the message, which read, “Todos somos caballas.”
These shirts were part of a larger La Liga effort to support Ceuta. The Spanish autonomous city is facing a serious migrant crisis.
Before the pre-match handshake, Mbappe, Vinicius, and Konate took off the shirts. This action quickly went viral on social media. Many fans criticized the players for not showing respect to the people of Ceuta.
