A video of Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawaru introducing herself without mentioning her partner 2Baba’s surname has sparked fresh talk about their relationship.
In the video posted on her Instagram page on Tuesday, the minority leader said, “Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru,” representing Egor Constituency.
Her nameplate showed Osawaru only, without “Idibia.” This does not confirm any change in their relationship. But it comes after she was not at 2Baba’s 51st birthday celebration and album listening party in Lagos.
During the assembly session, Natasha supported a bill aimed at improving the state’s emergency response. She called the proposed law timely.

She pointed out Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution. This section states that the security and welfare of the people is the main goal of government.
“Mr Speaker, my name is Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, member representing the very great people of Egor Constituency and, by God’s grace, the minority leader of this House,” she said.
“Mr Speaker, I rise this morning to support the second reading of this bill because it is timely. The majority leader highlighted that Section 14, subsection 2(b), of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, clearly states that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.”
Emergency Challenges
Natasha raised issues about Edo State facing flooding, erosion, fire outbreaks, building collapses, and communal crises. She called these growing dangers needing a strong response.
“Every rainy season, our people from Auchi, Ekpoma, Benin City, and other parts of the state suffer from flooding, erosion, fire outbreaks, building collapse, and communal crises,” Natasha said.
“Mr Speaker, as we speak, we have no strong, legally backed state agency that can respond proactively. Hence, this bill is timely.”
Appearance
The video also got comments about Natasha’s outfit. She wore a colorful dress, which is different from the black abayas and tunics she usually wears.
It seemed to be one of the few recent times she was seen in a non-black outfit. Some social media users also pointed out that she looked fuller in the video.
This change in style and her fuller look added to the reactions from the public.
Natasha and 2Baba
The video and photos shared by the lawmaker brought back interest in her relationship with music star Innocent “2Baba” Idibia.
2Baba and Natasha
PREMIUM TIMES earlier reported that their relationship faced scrutiny in August. This was after Natasha appeared unexpectedly at an Abuja nightclub where 2Baba was performing.
A video that went online seemed to show the couple having a heated discussion. But the footage did not show what happened before or what caused the argument.
An eyewitness said Natasha came with some men and tried to talk to the singer. The witness said she went to 2Baba’s vehicle soon after he arrived and asked to speak with him, causing a commotion outside the nightclub.
Others claimed that Natasha couldn’t contact the singer before showing up. Neither Natasha nor 2Baba gave detailed comments about the incident.
Absent from Birthday Celebration
Speculation about a possible breakup intensified when Natasha was not at 2Baba’s 51st birthday party in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The celebration also served as a listening party for his upcoming album, Oldest Young Man. Attendees included 2Baba’s children, his mother, Rose Idibia, and several entertainment figures like Kenny Ogungbe, Dayo “D1” Adeneye, Wande Coal, African China, Ayo Makun, Faze, and Tony Tetuila.
The mothers of the singer’s children, Annie Macaulay, Sunmbo Adeoye, and Pero Adeniyi, were also not at the event. Natasha’s absence raised more questions about her relationship with the singer. But neither she nor 2Baba has publicly confirmed any separation or explained why she missed the celebration.
