NDC Should Remove Fake Activists, Says Spokesperson

The spokesperson for the New Democratic Congress, Theo Agada, has urged the party leaders to remove what he calls "opportunistic content creators pretending to be activists" ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Agada made this statement in a post on X on Saturday. He was reacting to a video shared by a content creator named Flag Boy NG.

In the video, Flag Boy NG, wearing a shirt linked to the Obidient Movement, showed political flags and materials connected to Peter Obi and the NDC. He then took off the shirt and set the items on fire.

This video has sparked reactions on social media. Some users saw it as Flag Boy NG's way of distancing himself from the NDC and the political movement around Obi.

Agada responded to this situation by accusing some content creators of using activism for their own gain. He called for the party leadership to act against these individuals.

He wrote, "To be honest, I am so exhausted. I think it is about time the party leadership got rid of these opportunistic content creators masquerading as activists."

He added, "If the motivation is not campaign donations, why are you people fighting over leadership in your micro-movements? Shame on you all."

Agada's comments come as political parties and movements start preparing for the 2027 general elections.

The NDC has become one of the political groups attracting supporters of former Anambra State governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi. Discussions about the party and Obi's political future continue among his supporters.

In the video shared by Flag Boy NG, he is seen taking down political flags, removing his shirt and gathering the materials into a pile. He then pours a liquid over them and sets them on fire.

The video ends with a graphic of Flag Boy NG featuring Nigerian flags.

It is unclear what led to his actions or if this means he is officially leaving the NDC. Agada, however, seems to use this incident to repeat his criticism of content creators involved in political activism. He particularly targets those running independent movements within the larger opposition space.
