Newcastle Signs Lewis Hall to a New Contract Until 2031

Newcastle United has signed defender Lewis Hall to a new contract that lasts until 2031. This keeps the England international at St James’ Park for a long time.

The 22-year-old left-back has agreed to a two-year extension on his previous deal. This comes amid interest from Manchester United.

On Friday, BBC Sport reported that Hall, a lifelong Newcastle fan, called the new contract a “really proud moment.” He said it is a privilege to keep representing the club.

“It’s an absolute pleasure to play for this club and to represent the supporters,” Hall said. “I know how much it means to them.

“To be able to bring joy to their faces, it’s a big thing for me. I obviously have a family connection with the club, which is incredibly important to us all.

“One of the main reasons I play is to make my family proud, and I know how much it means to them to watch me playing for Newcastle United.”

Hall joined Newcastle from Chelsea in 2023. Since then, he has played 106 matches for the club.

He also talked about the team’s progress under new head coach Matthias Jaissle. Hall said, “It’s a really good place to be. It’s really pleasing with how we’ve started the season, especially with the new gaffer and coaching staff coming in. I think we can go on to achieve really big things.”

Jaissle welcomed the contract extension and called Hall a key player in Newcastle’s future plans.

“He’s a very important player for us and for what we are building here,” Jaissle said.

“His mentality is exactly what you want in a young player. He wants to learn every day and he wants to be better in every match.

“Lewis covers ground in a way that few players can. He defends with maturity and intelligence, and his technical level means he can support the team higher up the pitch.

“What excites me most is that I believe the best is still to come from Lewis. He has a lot of room to develop, and I am looking forward to working with him as he grows with us.”

This contract extension shows Newcastle’s confidence in Hall and their wish to make him a big part of the club’s future.
